For the first time, a favissa dated to the 13th century BCE, has been discovered near Tel Qashish, north of Yokneam.

During excavations of the Israel Antiquities Authority in 2010, a trove of pottery vessels was found to the north of the Tel, dated to the Late Bronze Age IIB (1300-1200 BCE).

It contained more than 200 items, including rare typologies that were previously unknown. Some of the items were locally made, others had been imported from Greece and from Cyprus. Researchers suggest that the contents of the trove appertained to a small local temple.

The imported vessels in the favissa are evidence of the strong maritime connections of that era between Eretz-Israel, the island of Cyprus, and the Aegean.
