Series of Russian Guided Tours
At the National Maritime Museum
"Haifa Museums" is proud to launch a series or guided tous in the Russian language at the National Maritime Museum. Every month there will be a new guided tour focusing on a different subject:
22.07.17, Saturday, 11:00 — The Truth About Pirates Of The Caribbean
We will learn about the phenomenon of sea robbery from the ancient times until the 18th century, through original finds and reconstructed models displayed in exhibitions. We will become acquainted with the way of life of the pirates in various periods, what is true and what is only a myth. Look at the weapons used by the pirates in different parts of the world, and we will know the stories of famous pirates who left their mark and even entered the literature and the popular cinema.
26.08.17, Saturday, 11:00 — 5000 years of shipping in the Mediterranean
Throughout history, ships from a variety of cultures and periods have been sailing along the Mediterranean routes and serving various purposes: commerce, warfare, fishing and more. We will see the models of reconstructed ships and parts of the original vessels, through which we will become acquainted with the development of the vessels according to the region and the culture, how the ships sailed and for what purpose. In addition, we will also look at the cargoes of shipwrecks that were drawn from the sea, and expand the picture of the maritime trade that took place in the Mediterranean Sea.
23.09.17, Saturday, 11:00 — Hidden treasures
Archeology is a fascinating field, through which we can go back in time to ancient times and learn about the people who lived then. Archeology reveals in the depths of the earth and in the depths of the sea finds that no human eye has seen for hundreds and thousands of years. We will focus on a variety of exhibits from land and underwater surveys that open a window to the time that stopped with the destruction of the settlement or the sinking of the ship and testify to the rich cultures that existed around the Mediterranean Sea.
